Whittier Fishing Charters Start May 1st
Well Ground hog day came and went and good old Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow and predicted another 6 weeks of winter. We here at Saltwater Excursions are ready for summer to get here. We have decided to make May 1st our official start date for both the helicopter tours and the fishing charters.
July is starting to book up fast so I recommend calling soon if you would like to reserve a boat.
The International Pacific Halibut Commission has adopted the North Pacific Fisheries Management Council’s recommendation to keep our halibut bag limit at 2 fish per day with 4 in possession. One halibut can be of any size and one halibut must be 29 inches or less. Unfortunately to lower the catch weight we have had Thursdays taken away from us for halibut fishing only. This starts June 15th and will continue through the last week of August. Good news however; all of May and the first two Thursday’s of June we can still halibut fish.
Thursday’s are now going to be dedicated to Lingcod and Salmon. For those of you who love lingcod and/or Salmon, Thursday is your day to rumble as long as it is after July 1st!
