Whittier Alaska Fishing Report

Starting the week of June 5th the halibut fishing out of Whittier Alaska has been quite good. Lots of halibut have been caught along with lots of black rockfish and yellow eye. We are still on the look out for silver salmon; however, the king salmon have been showing up just outside of Whittier in small numbers. The under 28 inch halibut rule has been tough and we are averaging about 3 of those fish a day with some anglers opting out of taking their smaller fish.

The weather has been a bit of a struggle this week with the winds kicking up in the afternoon, but it does appear as though that weather system has been pushed out being replaced by variable winds and seas less than 2 feet for the next week.

We do have a few spots left for June.

June 16th – 1 person
June 20th – 2 people
June 21st – 6 people
June 23rd – 1 person
